Hurricane Sandy
My top priority is helping our communties recover and rebuild from Tropical Storm Sandy.
Power outages have dragged on for too long, and the situation becomes dangerous as temperatures drop. For information on shelters in Westchester, please call 211. Shelters in Rockland are available at Rockland Community College (145 College Road, Suffern) and Stony Point Center (17 Crickettstown Road, Stony Point).
FEMA agreed to my request to grant a major disaster declaration for Westchester and Rockland Counties, making our region eligible for public and indivdual assistance. To check your eligibility or begin the application process, please visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov, or call 1-800-621-3362, or visit the Disaster Recovery Center in Westchester County:
- County Center, 198 Central Avenue in White Plains. Hours: 1:00-7:00pm Thursday 11/08; 8:00AM-8:00PM Mon-Sun
I am pushing the utility companies and FEMA, and working closely with the State and Counties so we can help our community recover and rebuild. Please do not hesitate to contact my office at (914) 428-1707 or (845) 639-3485.
Please be safe and take precautions at home and on the road.
Sincerely,
-
