  1. When the president signed the stimulus, the average U.S. household income was $54,964. Today, it is $50,964 and has fallen by $4,019.

  11. Gulf States, which produces metal buildings at its Starkville facility, hosted me for an employee town hall. Their questions were focused on how we get the economy moving again and start creating jobs.

  13. 2nd Annual Academy Day built on the great success of the first one, which helped 11 Mississippians become cadets and midshipmen. We had over 200 people from all over the state attend this year.

  14. As a small businessman, I know that an out of control welfare state and higher taxes do not create jobs. I also know that our welfare programs largely fail at helping people get off the dole and back to work. The federal government’s fiscal year ended September 30, and a new report shows that spending on welfare programs topped $1 trillion. http://ow.ly/eCBvR

  17. Over the weekend, I got the chance to attend the French Camp Harvest Festival. While I was there, I met the local Girl Scout troop and the Med Stat pilots and EMTs. These guys do an amazing job serving our communities. Also, the helicopter they fly was manufactured in the 1st District by Eurocopter in Columbus.
