Today, 15 percent of Americans receive food stamps, an increase of 45 percent since President Obama took office.
- The number of Americans forced to work only part-time in October because they could not find full-time employment was 8.3 million.
- When they passed the stimulus, the Obama administration predicted unemployment would be 5.2% this month. It is 7.9%.
- The unemployment rate is higher today that it was when Barack Obama took office.

We had over 200 people from all over the state attend this year.

As a small businessman, I know that an out of control welfare state and higher taxes do not create jobs. I also know that our welfare programs largely fail at helping people get off the dole and back to work. The federal government’s fiscal year ended September 30, and a new report shows that spending on welfare programs topped $1 trillion. http://ow.ly/eCBvR- This morning I presented the flags my office requested for Desoto schools. Each of the 25 were flown over the Capitol.
- I visited Haworth Inc. in Calhoun County. They make steel fabricated seating sold all over the world.
- Over the weekend, I got the chance to attend the French Camp Harvest Festival. While I was there, I met the local Girl Scout troop and the Med Stat pilots and EMTs. These guys do an amazing job serving our communities. Also, the helicopter they fly was manufactured in the 1st District by Eurocopter in Columbus.
