FORT HOOD, Texas – Media are invited to attend the First Army Division West ‘open house,’ fun run and social activities on North Fort Hood, along with the community of Gatesville on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Division West will host the following events:

• 5K Division West Halloween Competitive Run (in costume) – 9 a.m.
• 1-Mile Division West Halloween Family Fun Run (costumes encouraged) – 11 a.m.
• Military equipment static displays – All day
• Free barbeque lunch, donated by the All American Beef Battalion - Noon
• Free concert, provided by the Clayton Adams Band – Noon
• ‘Trunk or Treat’ trick or treating – 1 p.m.

Race courses are designed with obstacles, ‘ghouls’ and other surprises. Prizes will be given to winners in several categories, including best costume and ‘fastest survivor.’ A ‘Best Decorated Trunk’ award will be given after the vehicle ‘Trunk or Treat’ event.

Media must enter post via the North Fort Hood Gate (18th Street entrance) on Hwy 36 approximately five miles southeast of Gatesville to be escorted through the gate to the event areas.

Please note that media access procedures to Fort Hood have changed. Media that do not register prior to noon Friday cannot be granted access to the installation for this event.
