Cong. Carter Announces Disaster Relief Grant for Falls County
01/06/06Washington, Jan 6, 2006 -
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31) today announced that Falls County has been awarded a $349,930 Disaster Relief Fund grant through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. These funds will help Falls County recover from damage caused by floods in August 2005. Specifically, the grant will be used to repair two bridges and county roads at 28 sites.
“The floods in August caused serious damage to rural roads throughout Falls County. This federal funding is critical to successful recovery efforts throughout communities in Falls County,” Congressman Carter said.
The State of Texas’ Office of Rural Community Affairs (ORCA) administers federal funds that come to Texas through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG Program.
