CARTER WINS FUNDS FOR SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR HISPANIC STUDIES
02/04/08Washington, Feb 4, 2008 -
U.S. Congressman John R. Carter (TX-31), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, today announced that $268,000 has been included in the 2008 Omnibus spending bill for Southwestern University’s Center for Hispanic Studies.
“I am proud to represent Southwestern University and I congratulate them on receiving these funds,” Congressman Carter said. “When we invest in our universities and students, we invest in our future. These funds will strengthen American society by increasing educational access for Hispanic students and advancing Latin American studies and scholarships. As the Representative for Central Texas, I know what a great impact these funds will have on the students at Southwestern University.”
The 2008 Omnibus spending bill passed the House and the Senate in 2007 and was signed into law by the President late last year.
