Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs Praises H.R.1576
“The Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) lauds the leadership of Representative Burton and other Congressional leaders in their support of a House Resolution to create a National Day of Recognition of Parents of Special Needs Children. Caring for a child with special health care needs takes a great deal of commitment, resourcefulness, and support. This resolution recognizes the need to celebrate the ways parents of special needs children support their families, their love and dedication to their children and their family members, and the need for all of us to appreciate the many ways that all our lives are enriched by their many contributions and sacrifices.”
Michael R. Fraser, PhD CAE, Chief Executive Officer
Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP)
Washington, DC
Representative Dan Burton first introduced House Resolution 1576 to the House Education and Labor Committee in July and since then has rallied 42 co-sponsors. Albeit, Members of the House are not the only fans of this Resolution, a number of constituents, mothers, fathers, grandparents and organizations have been calling in to express their support as well.
H.R. 1576 calls to establish a national day of recognition for parents of special needs children. It passed through the House 413 votes to zero last week.
