On Monday, July 23, 2012, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 3870, under a suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  H.R. 3870 was introduced by Rep. Tim Griffin (R-AR) on February 1, 2012, and referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

This legislation would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 6083 Highway 36 West in Rose Bud, Arkansas, as the"Nicky 'Nick' Daniel Bacon Post Office."

According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture, Nick Daniel Bacon stands as Arkansas’s only Medal of Honor recipient for actions in the Vietnam War.  In addition, Bacon served for more than a decade as the director of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, championing many programs for Arkansas’s veterans and playing an instrumental part in the erection of a memorial honoring all of Arkansas’s Medal of Honor recipients.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
