To designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 125 Kerr Avenue in Rome City, Indiana, as the "SPC Nicholas Scott Hartge Post Office"

On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 3501, under a suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  H.R. 3501 was introduced by Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) on November 18, 2011, and referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

This legislation would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 125 Kerr Avenue in Rome City, Indiana, as the “SPC Nicholas Scott Hartge Post Office.”

Army Specialist Nicholas S. Hartge died May 14, 2007 while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Hartge was 20, of Rome City, Indiana.  He was assigned to the 1^st Battalion, 26^th Infantry Regiment, 2^nd  Brigade Combat Team, 1^st Infantry Division, in Schweinfurt, Germany.  He died in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using grenades and an improvised explosive device.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
