Persons coming off of group insurance who have exhausted continuation coverage may be federally eligible for coverage under CHIP (http://www.chip.state.il.us/planalt.htm) Persons receiving benefits from the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, or persons who have lost their jobs to companies who have moved overseas, may be able to obtain coverage through CHIP (http://www.chip.state.il.us/planalt.htm) Self-employed persons who are unable to obtain health insurance due to illness and persons under 65 on Medicare due to disability are among those who benefit from CHIP's offerings (http://www.chip.state.il.us/elig7.htm)
