House Republicans' American Energy Initiative
 The American Energy Initiative is an ongoing effort by House Republicans to address rising gasoline prices and expand American energy production. This initiative will lower energy costs, grow our economy and create jobs.
House Natural Resources Committee Republicans are committed to finding sensible solutions to America’s rapidly rising energy costs and help boost our economy by actively producing our own American energy resources. Under the leadership of Chairman Doc Hastings, the Committee has introduced the following American Energy Initiative legislation: H.R. 6247 protects and promotes hydropower resources by ending practices that diminish existing hydropower, cutting regulatory red-tape, generating new non-federal funding for new projects and improving transparency.
H.R. 6082 will make clear that the President’s offshore drilling plan is unacceptable and will replace it with an environmentally responsible, robust plan that truly supports increased American energy and American jobs.
H.R. 4480 is a bipartisan package of domestic energy production bills that will reduce energy costs and spur badly-needed economic growth and job creation.
H.R. 4402 would allow the U.S. to more efficiently develop our Nation's strategic and critical minerals, such as rare earth elements, that are vital to job creation, American economic competitiveness and national security.
H.R. 4383 would ensure A reliable permitting process to increase American energy production. It would remove government roadblocks and bureaucratic red tape that hinder and delay American energy production and American job creation.
H.R. 4382 would reform to the leasing process for onshore oil and natural gas projects on federal land in order to eliminate unnecessary government delays and hurdles, expand onshore energy production and create new American jobs.
H.R. 4381 establishes common sense steps to create an all-of-the-above American energy plan for using our vast federal resources to meet our Nation’s energy needs.
H.R. 3973 streamlines burdensome and duplicative government regulations and increases the opportunity for Indian tribes to develop energy resources on their own land to create jobs and increase American energy production.
H.R. 3409 will protect American jobs and support U.S. energy production by prohibiting the Secretary of the Interior from issuing new rules or regulations that will adversely impact mining jobs and our economy.
H.R. 3404 would officially reorganize and reform the Interior Department’s offshore energy oversight and elevate the role of American energy production on public lands within the Interior Department.
H.R. 2842 is a bipartisan plan to create new American jobs and expand production of clean, renewable hydropower by streamlining the regulatory process and cutting duplicative, bureaucratic red tape.
H.R. 2173 would streamline the process for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to approve temporary infrastructure, such as towers or buoys, to test and develop offshore wind power in the Outer Continental Shelf.
H.R. 2172 would streamline the process to test and develop onshore wind power on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forest Service land.
H.R. 2171 would reduce redundancy and bureaucratic delays by establishing a common sense policy for the development of clean, geothermal energy.
H.R. 2170 would accelerate the development of clean, renewable energy projects on federal lands by streamlining and simplifying government regulations, while still ensuring thorough environmental reviews.
H.R. 2150 would cut through bureaucratic red tape and unlock the full potential of energy resources in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A) by ensuring that oil and natural gas are developed and transported in a timely and efficient manner.
H.R. 2011 would help strengthen and improve our national mineral policy by requiring a government-wide survey of American mineral resources, demands and factors impacting mineral development.
H.R. 1904 authorizes a fair value land exchange in Southeast Arizona that would open up the third largest undeveloped copper resource in the world.
H.R. 1231 lifts the President’s ban on new offshore drilling by requiring the Administration to move forward in the 2012-2017 lease plan with energy production in areas containing the most oil and natural gas resources.
H.R. 1230 requires the Obama Administration to move forward promptly to conduct offshore lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Virginia that the Obama Administration has delayed or canceled.
H.R. 1229 puts an end to the Obama Administration’s de facto moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico in a safe, responsible, transparent manner by setting firm time-lines for considering permits to drill, which provide certainty and allow employers and workers to get back on the job.
H.R. 7 would link new American energy production to high-priority infrastructure projects. This common sense jobs plan would permanently remove government barriers to American energy production and use the revenues to repair and improve America’s roads and bridges – both of which support long-term job growth.
