CARTER WINS FUNDS FOR TEMPLE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
02/05/08Washington, Feb 5, 2008 - U.S. Congressman John R. Carter (TX-31), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, today announced that $140,000 has been included in the 2008 Omnibus spending bill for the construction of a Temple Performing Arts Center. The Temple Performing Arts Center will be used by the City of Temple, Temple College, the Temple Symphony, the Temple Civic Theater, as well as other local area public and private schools as a venue for the performing arts. “I am proud to represent the City of Temple and I congratulate them on receiving these funds,” Congressman Carter said. “This project will allow for the restoration of historic buildings while providing a central location for theater productions in Temple. The construction of a theater in downtown Temple will spur economic development in the community.”
The 2008 Omnibus spending bill passed the House and the Senate in 2007 and was signed into law by the President late last year.
