CARTER SECURES $1.2 MILLION FOR TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS BENEFITING ROUND ROCK AND GEORGETOWN
06/16/06Washington, DC, Jun 16, 2006 - U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31), a member of the Appropriations Committee, announced that the House has included funding for transportation projects he requested for the City of Georgetown and the City of Round Rock in the Fiscal Year 2007 Transportation Appropriations bill. The bill includes $700,000 for construction of a turnaround at IH-35 and Hester’s Crossing Road in Round Rock. $500,000 is also provided for construction of the Southwest Bypass in Georgetown, which will provide needed connections between SH 29, FM 2243, and IH-35, easing congestion in the area.
“I am pleased to have secured funding for highway projects that are critical to the economic development of the Georgetown and Round Rock communities. These transportation infrastructure enhancements will provide more direct and less congested access to retail businesses and residential neighborhoods in areas throughout Williamson County,” Congressman Carter said. “Improved transportation systems also allow for continued job growth in the area.”
This week the House passed the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, The Judiciary, and District of Columbia Appropriations bill by a vote of 406-22.
