Cummings to Host Jobs Workshop on September 18th

Washington, DC –  On Tuesday, September 18, 2012, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings will host a workshop on how to establish jobs clubs and career ministries, and the role these resources can play in helping Baltimore’s unemployed. The Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) will also preview its new Community Job Hubs program at the event. Anchored in neighborhood facilities, the Hubs will provide local residents direct access to employment readiness tools, computer skills training and information about the labor market and job opportunities.

The U.S. Department of Labor and the MOED are co-hosts of this half-day workshop. Remarks will be offered by Congressman Cummings as well as Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake; the Rev. Phil Tom and Ben Seigel, director and deputy director, respectively, of the U.S. Department of Labor Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships; and Karen Sitnick, director of the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Employment Development.
