Nor'easter storm on East Coast brings snow, new power outages

+NBC News reports the Nor'easter storm currently slamming the East Coast has caused 75,000 new power outages in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. This brings the total number of outages to 715,000 in the region, many of those remaining from damage caused by Sandy.

1,200 flights have been canceled because of the Nor'easter storm, while six to 12 inches of snow is expected in southeastern New York and New England.

Strong earthquake strikes off Guatemala Pacific coast

At least 8 people have been reported dead after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Guatemala's Pacific coast. Guatemala's president has declared a national alert and advised people to evacuate tall buildings as a precaution.

Officials say roads have been buried in landslides. Buildings shook from Mexico City to San Salvador.

Meanwhile, +The Associated Press reports that Guatemala's president says preliminary reports indicate that 15 died in the quake.

Obama pledges to move country forward in victory speech

President Barack Obama pledged to move forward after winning re-election and reach across the aisle, saying, "We are not as divided as our politics suggest. We are not as cynical as the pundits believe."

Shortly before Obama's victory speech, Romney gave a concession speech, where he congratulated Obama, saying, "I pray the president will be successful in guiding our nation."

Nor’easter storm forecast to hit East Coast later this week

+NBC News reports a 'significant' nor'easter storm could hit the East Coast on Thursday, the same region still recovering from superstorm Sandy.

The National Weather Service predicts heavy rain and strong winds along the coast from Virginia to Maine, with the possibility of snow as well.

Experts say the storm won't be nearly as severe as Sandy, but that it could delay further recovery efforts.

Mayor: New York City Marathon won't be held Sunday

+NBC New York: The marathon will not take place in storm-ravaged New York City this Sunday, Mayor Bloomberg announced late Friday.

"The marathon has always brought our city together and inspired us with stories of courage and determination," Bloomberg said in a statement. "We would not want a cloud to hang over the race or its participants, so we have decided to cancel it."

There was no immediate word on a new date for the event.
