Petri Announces Winners of Sixth Congressional Art Competition

 Rep. Petri with Jeshanah Zolkowski, winner of the 2011 Art CompetitionJeshanah Zolkowski of Neenah High School (pictured above) is this year's Best of Show in the 30th annual "Artistic Discovery" Congressional Art Competition.  Her piece titled Garments of Praise is a pencil graphite drawing.  Ms. Zolkowski's artwork will be hung in the U.S. Capitol for one year.  She will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in June to participate in a reception with all the other Congressional district winners.

This year's Merit Award goes to Jesse Coraggio from Central Wisconsin High School in Waupun.  His piece titled It's a Jungle Out There is a prismacolor pencil piece.  The Jurors' Award goes to Ali Gooch from Watertown High School.  Honorable Mentions go to Jordan Brooks of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc and Gavan Ertl of Neenah High School. 

All of the 37 pieces of artwork from ten different school districts will be on display at theJeshanah Zolkowski's Winning Art Piece Windhover Center for the Arts in Fond du Lac, WI until Friday, April 22nd.

"We got some great submissions this year," Petri said.  "I want extend my thanks to all of this year's participants and my best wishes to all of them for continued success, both in their artistic pursuits and in other endeavors.
