TOUR SEKY Celebrates 25 Years of Service

TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) celebrated its 25th Anniversary September 26, 2012 with a celebration brunch and awards ceremony. The event was held at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, KY.

 

Nearly 200 tourism professionals, elected officials and tourism business representatives took part in the event. The theme was “Celebrate the Silver!” Congressman Hal Rogers (KY 5th Dist.) was the Keynote Speaker for the event. The Congressman applauded TOUR SEKY’s volunteers for their hard work and dedication over the past quarter of a century and encouraged them to keep their efforts going for another 25 years.

 

Bill Hardman Jr., Southeast Tourism Society (STS) President and CEO also spoke to the attendees. STS is a non-profit organization dedicated to tourism promotion in 12 states throughout the southeast. Mr. Hardman discussed “Tourism as an Industry”.

 

The celebration also included a special performance from Logan Hall, 2012 Road to Fame Winner. Hall sang his new single “Treasures from the Ground”.

 

TOUR SEKY recognized many of its volunteers during the awards ceremony. Awards included the Governmental Tourism Impact Award, “Rookie” of the year and the APEX award which stands for Achievement, Professionalism, Excellence, and X-traordinary in tourism.
