Hello, Google+ REST API developers!  In the next few weeks, we will be shifting which fields we populate when returning article activities.  We will also be restructuring how we return photo albums.

See http://goo.gl/AQbxW for more details!

I didn't say spam wasn't possible without it, it just makes it significantly easier, and avoids the cat-and-mouse game every time Google makes "breaking changes" to the web app

I may be missing something fairly obvious, but if an app has multiple Activities, should we be issuing PlusClient.connect() and PlusClient.disconnect() requests on every Activity? Is there a more preferred method (like using a Service or custom Helper) that keeps the connection alive across multiple Activities?

Edit: posted question in the developers forum also

It would be wonderful if Google Chrome could be available as an app. for those of us using Android 2.2+ versions. Right now you need version 4 I think.

Small updates to the Hangouts API

Today's v1.3 release includes a pair of minor API changes:

1) You can now decide whether to mirror local video (or not). This is especially useful for apps that display text in the video pane (like +Hangout Lower Third).

2) We're also replacing requestParticipantMicrophoneMute() with muteParticipantMicrophone(), so please update your apps as soon as you're able.

The full list of API changes in v1.3 is available here: http://goo.gl/lasbx. They're already live (in both the developer sandbox, and public hangout apps), so you can start building right away!

This week for +GDL+Gus Class and I did a live coding demo of the sign in button and how to retrieve profile information using it.  If you were watching, you might have noticed how the demo blew up a bit.  Well, we went ahead and edited out a lot of the excess debugging, so now you can watch the demo with 8 fewer minutes of clicking around!

Or skip ahead to what you really care about:
Meet your presenters: http://goo.gl/X7VpH
Render the Sign-In Button: http://goo.gl/8BYZU

Grab the user resource (with XHR/REST debugging!): http://goo.gl/BmRll
Retrieve and render the user resource: http://goo.gl/Zsnpy

(If you wish we hadn't done this for you, feel free to tune in live next time to watch our bugs as they appear!)
