At his weekly press briefing today, Speaker Boehner said White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew owed “the American people an explanation about why they squandered hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars” on Solyndra.
The Washington Post this morning reports that then-Office of Management & Budget (OMB) Director (and now White House Chief of Staff) Jack Lew had the opportunity to heed the warnings of his own career staff at OMB and shut down failing Solyndra to save taxpayers millions. He ignored those warnings.
When Solyndra failed, the Obama administration left American taxpayers holding the bag to the tune of $535 million – and that’s just one of several pet projects funded under the ‘stimulus’ bill’s Section 1705 loan program that have failed to create jobs and cost Americans millions.
