DAY TWO: Boustany Returns to Washington- "We Need an Audacity of Action to Lower Gas Prices"

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., R-Lafayette, today spoke on the House Floor calling on Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, to reconvene the House to vote on meaningful energy legislation.

Members of Congress are ready to follow the American people’s call for lower gas prices through an ‘all of the above’ strategy, but Speaker Pelosi of California and other extreme environmentalists are blocking any and all action,” said Boustany. “Let’s work together to lower the price at the pump, decrease our dependence on foreign sources of oil and keep good paying American jobs here at home.

Boustany joined Reps. Virginia Fox, R-NC, Mike Pence, R-IN, David Dreier, R-CA, Joe Wilson, R-SC, Michelle Bachmann, R-MN, Phil Gingrey, R-GA, Trent Franks, R-AZ, Tom Davis, R-VA, and others to urge a vote to increase American energy production as well as create new incentives for research and development of next generation fuels and technologies.

Gas in Lafayette averaged $3.72 today according to AAA. In Lake Charles, the average price was $3.71 per gallon.

Boustany continued, “Instead of an audacity of hope, let’s have an audacity of action to solve this challenge. That’s the American way to lower the price we are all paying at the pump.
