Washington, D.C.– U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., (R-Southwest Louisiana), today voted in favor of a bi-partisan economic stimulus package, H.R. 5140.

 

“Our economy in Southwest Louisiana is tied to our national economy. Because of energy prices, the home mortgage rate increase and weakening consumer confidence, we need a quick boost to our national economic output,” Boustany said. “This is a smart move that will spur spending, and keep our economy moving forward.”

 

The temporary economic growth plan passed this afternoon includes rebates of $300 to $1,200 for 117 million American families, as well has $50 billion in tax relief for small businesses. H.R. 5140 passed the House with a vote of 385-35.
