Boustany Announces $3 Million Grants and Loans for Abbeville General Hospital

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr. (R-LA) today announced $3 million in grants and loans for Abbeville General Hospital.  USDA awarded a $500,000 grant and a $2.5 million low-interest loan to repair the hospital’s roof and purchase medical equipment.

“Local medical facilities like Abbeville General Hospital provide vital access to healthcare for families in Southwest Louisiana,” Boustany said.  “Repairing our infrastructure continues to be one of my main priorities in Congress, and these funds help achieve that goal.”

The hurricanes of 2005 caused roof damage to the hospital and increased the hospital patient load.  USDA Rural Development grants and loans assist smaller communities that often lack the resources for large development projects.
