the "all business class" airline, Open Skies, seems like an attempt to recapture the glamour of flying and it has not been doing well at all on its transatlantic route - in fact it has recently dialed back to the usual 2- or 3-class model, with cattle class taking up more than half of the plane.

That article really isn't very good. Although my standards might be unfairly high, since I'm actually working in transport history.

Early jetliners had to borrow a big part of their service idiom from the sea liners they were replacing, whereas now the most comparable experience to a flight is a bus journey. I think consumer expectations for service and perks have been forced quite sharply down even during my period of experience (about 20 years).
