Rehberg Secures $200,000 for Pantry Partners Food Bank Building

WASHINGTON, D.C. Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg today announced $200,000 for Pantry Partners Food Bank, The Clothes Closet, and Acts of Kindness to fund construction of a consolidated location. The funding was included in the House Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee bill for Fiscal Year 2010.

"The need for better facilities and equipment for the Pantry Partners Food Bank is urgent, so the caring professionals who serve there can tackle hunger with nutritious foods and precious dignity," said Rehberg, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. "By upgrading at this critical time, the food bank is better able to make the most of their food resources and continue the important work of eliminating hunger in Ravalli County."

Pantry Partners Food Bank, The Clothes Closet, and Acts of Kindness collectively help serve those in need in the state of Montana. The three organizations operate out of separate facilities, some of which are inadequate. The funding will allow for a consolidated location, which will help the organizations better serve their community by providing food and clothing for the disadvantaged.

"This funding will help us build a new facility to house Pantry Partners Food Bank, the Clothes Closet and Acts of Kindness," said Jacquie Lyons, secretary of the Board of Directors of Pantry Partners Food Bank. "All these organizations greatly support those in need in our community. We would like to sincerely thank Congressman Rehberg and the entire delegation for their efforts in support of our request."
