Bradley Wiggins: Tour de France winner injured in crash
Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins is in hospital after being knocked off his bike.
The 32-year-old Olympic gold medal winner damaged his ribs in the collision at 18:00 GMT in Wrightington, near Wigan and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
Lancashire Police told BBC Sport: "The rider is a 32-year-old local man.
"He was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. His condition is stable."
The police added: "The incident is a cyclist involved in a collision with a white Astra car.
"His family have made aware of what has happened. The driver of the Astra car is a local woman who was not injured but she is helping police with enquires."
