Rayville High School Senior Accepts Appointment to West Point

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today commended Gordon Erik McElroy for his recent acceptance of appointment to the to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (USMA). Alexander nominated him for appointment.
At RHS, Gordon has maintained a 3.5 GPA, and will graduate near the top of his class. He is the son of Scott and Michele McElroy.
Among his many achievements, McElroy is perhaps most proud of receiving the Civilian Marksmanship Program Distinguished Shooter Badge in 2008.
Alexander said he enjoyed the opportunity to recognize McElroy's achievements by recommending him for entry into this prestigious institution.
“I was proud to nominate this impressive, young man, and I look forward to following Gordon’s future accomplishments,” said Alexander. “His proven leadership and remarkable accomplishments have prepared him to excel at one of the nation’s most esteemed military academies. He has truly made his family and community proud.”
