Turner Encourages Constituents To Start Applying For Aid

Oct 31, 2012

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Bob Turner (NY-09) is informing constituents on how to report damages and apply for aid.

“This unbelievable disaster has left many people in my district and throughout New York in desperate need of help,” said Congressman Turner. “It is important that those who need assistance know where and how to apply for aid. I want to encourage everyone to not only apply as soon as possible, but to also take the time to fully understand the process involved and documentation needed when submitting the application.”

Residents may apply for aid at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) or via mobile at m.fema.gov. It is necessary for those applying for FEMA aid to file a claim with their insurance companies in advance. Small business owners and residents can also visit the Small Business Association website to learn about disaster loans they may be eligible for. For information or to find a local Disaster Recovery Center, potential applicants can contact the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (TTY: 1-800-877-8339) or e-mail disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

Constituents needing additional information are encouraged to contact Congressman Turner’s Queens office at (718) 426-5000 or his Washington D.C. office at (202) 225-6616.
