Rep. Rick Berg Sworn-In as North Dakota's Congressman

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Rick Berg was sworn in today as North Dakota’s sole representative for the 112th Congress.

A member of the new House Republican majority, Rep. Berg took the oath of office en masse with all members of Congress at approximately 2:15 P.M. EST on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.  Rep. Berg was also individually sworn in by Speaker John Boehner at a ceremonial swearing-in this evening.

“I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to represent North Dakota,” Congressman Berg stated.  “I look forward to serving the people of our state and working toward sound fiscal policies that will help renew our nation and our economy.”

Rep. Berg was joined on the House floor by his son, Jack, while his wife, Tracy, and mother, Francie, watched the ceremony from the House gallery.  A small reception for Rep. Berg, attended by numerous family members and friends, also took place in his Cannon office this afternoon.

Rep. Berg was recently selected as one of only two freshman members of Congress to serve on the House Ways and Means Committee.   Sub-committee assignments are expected to be announced in the next week.
