The House has voted 315 times this Congress to block action to address climate change, to halt efforts to reduce air and water pollution, to undermine protections for public lands and coastal areas, and to weaken the protection of the environment in other ways.  The Democratic staff of the Energy and Commerce Committee has released a report with an updated analysis of the anti-environment record of the House of Representatives in the 112th Congress and provided a searchable database of the anti-environment votes.

The Affordable Care Act has achieved numerous benefits while bringing down health care costs and reducing the deficit.

Continuing its investigation of the deadly meningitis outbreak, House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders today announced that the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will convene a hearing on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.  Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Margaret Hamburg is scheduled to testify.  The subcommittee has also invited James Coffey, Director of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, and Barry Cadden, Director of Pharmacy and owner of the New England Compounding Center.

Today Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman and Energy and Power Subcommittee Ranking Member Bobby L. Rush sent a letter to Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton and Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield requesting a hearing during the lame duck session on Hurricane Sandy, extreme weather events, and climate change.  Hurricane Sandy is the type of extreme weather event that climate scientists have said will become more common if we fail to reduce our carbon pollution.  The members have written 17 times to request that the Committee examine the topic of climate change but have not received any responses.
