Washington, DC—Today, U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) released the following statement after President Barack Obama announced his support for gay marriage:

“I have always maintained my deeply held belief that marriage should be between one man and one woman, a position that reflects my deeply held Catholic faith. While I disagree with the President’s newly discovered views on marriage, his willingness to reverse himself on this issue might offer hope to Ohioans that he will be just as willing to abandon his support for the trillion dollar health care bill, cap and trade, higher taxes on working families, and the crushing regulatory burdens his administration has imposed on the American economy.”

Rep. Renacci is serving his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he is a member of the Financial Services Committee. Prior to his election he worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the health care industry, and owned and operated over 60 other businesses in the automotive and sports management fields.
