28 Aug. 2012		NATO names Norwegian diplomat as Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has appointed Norwegian diplomat Mari Skåre as his Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security.
29 Mar. 2012		NATO, EU reaffirm long-term commitment to Afghanistan On 27 March 2012, less than two months from the NATO Summit in Chicago, a conference on "NATO and EU long-term commitment to Afghanistan" was held at the European Parliament. The conference was organised by the Brussels-based NGO Human Rights without Frontiers International. The Afghan Ambassador to Belgium, as well representatives from NATO, the European Union and the NGO community spoke at the event. The initiative attracted a large number of representatives from the think-tank community, civil society, the diplomatic corps, and the media.

07 Mar. 2012		Celebrating women’s role in peace and security Every year, International Women’s Day on March 8th honours the achievements made by women all over the world. It also focuses attention on the commitment made by many organisations, including NATO, to protect women and children in areas of conflict where they are disproportionately affected. This year, March 8th also marks 10 years since NATO began improving the gender balance of its own workforce.
