(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana) voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his refusal to be truthful and accountable in the investigation of Operation Fast and Furious.  The project sent approximately two thousand firearms to drug cartels that used the weapons to further their criminal activities and kill a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.  The contempt resolution was approved by the Congress. Boustany issued the following statement:

“Last year, I was one of the first to call for Attorney General Holder to resign because of his evasiveness and deception.  Being held in contempt of Congress is a serious indictment of Attorney General Holder’s and the Obama Administration’s dishonesty and equivocation.  Their actions and flawed judgments led to the death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent and put thousands of firearms in the hands of violent criminals.  This Administration must be held accountable for their actions.”
