(Washington, DC) - Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement today after the United States Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) allocated additional funding in the amount of $400,000 for the Southwest Louisiana Coastal Study:

“In December, I received an update from Major General Merdith Temple of the Corps as to the status of this study. Today, I received this wonderful news for South Louisiana. Funding remains the critical piece in completing the Southwest Louisiana Coastal Study. Comprehensive hurricane protection and restoration in South Louisiana has been a primary focus of mine since entering Congress, and completion of the study will remain a top priority. This allocation serves as a testament to my effort.

“The Southwest Louisiana Coastal Study will provide critical safety information not just to those on the Gulf Coast but will serve as a comprehensive hurricane and storm protection model for the rest of the country. I continue to focus on achieving concrete results when it comes to fighting for the rights of our coastal communities.”
