Boustany Demands Answers Regarding CLASS Act of ObamaCare

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD (R-Southwest Louisiana) today demanded a response from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to unanswered questions regarding the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) in ObamaCare.

“Secretary Sebelius and senior HHS officials continue refusing to explain their authority to rewrite the CLASS Act in the new health law,” Boustany said. “After calling the program ‘unsustainable’ without a massive taxpayer bailout, the Secretary has neglected to answer a letter sent by 43 Members of Congress regarding her desire to ignore specific language in the health law.  This lack of transparency and accountability exacerbates problems with Obamacare.   It’s time to repeal the health law and replace it with a health-care plan to expand coverage, improve quality and lower cost, while strengthening the doctor-patient relationship.”

The 43 Members requested a response to the letter by May 1, 2011.
