Request Military Help

Military & Veterans

Military

As chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I am committed to supporting the men and women who proudly serve in our nation’s armed forces. Additionally, there are many members of our armed forces who are serving their country as part of the National Guard and Reserves.

Please take a few minutes to read the information below and see if it answers your questions. We have included an extensive list of links to other resources that may be helpful to you as well.

If your legal residence or home of record is Michigan and you are having a problem related to your military service, my office may be able to assist you. However, it is recommended that you first work through your chain of command to resolve the matter. If that effort has been unsuccessful, my office can make an inquiry on your behalf. While we appreciate hearing from family members about an issue, before my office can make any inquiries, we must hear directly from you, the service member, and receive your written authorization.

If you need my office’s assistance with a military issue, please click on the "Request Military Help" link to the left to fill out the online form and privacy release, and return it to my Detroit office. For health care related issues, my office will also need the HIPAA privacy release form (link below).  Please allow up to 30 days from the day we receive your release for my office to contact you.

If your issue is time sensitive, please call my Detroit office at (313) 226-6020 or TTY/Voice toll-free (800) 851-0030 (in state).

Issues My Office Needs to Refer Elsewhere

  • Service members not from Michigan should contact a U.S. senator from their home of record.
