Cravaack Statement on SOPA & PIPA Legislation

Washington, D.C.– Today, U.S. Representative Chip Cravaack (MN-8) released the following statement in opposition to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and PIPA legislation currently under review in Congress:

“While we need to confront copyright infringement and online piracy, SOPA and PIPA legislation preempts due process of law. These are the wrong bills to accomplish this task, leaving too much room for interpretation. This is yet another example of big government overreach.”

Rep. Cravaack serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee – where he is Vice Chair of the Aviation Subcommittee – the Homeland Security Committee, and the Science, Space and Technology Committee. The 8th Congressional District covers 18 counties in Northeast Minnesota.
