Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Chip Cravaack (MN-8) released the following statement today following the release of Pine City, Minnesota native Shane Bauer from Iranian prison after nearly twenty-six months in captivity: 

"I admire Shane's courage and bravery demonstrated throughout his detainment in Iran.  Today, I'm pleased he is reunited with his friends and loved ones who waited so long for his safe return."

Congressman Cravaack serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee – where he is Vice Chair of the Aviation Subcommittee – the Homeland Security Committee, and the Science, Space and Technology Committee. The 8th Congressional District covers 18 counties in Northeast Minnesota.
