47TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VOTING RIGHTS ACT

Washington, DC – Today, Chairman Charlie Gonzalez (TX-20) released the following statement to mark the 47th Anniversary of the Voting Right Act.

This week, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law in 1965. Today, many voters are still disenfranchised by unnecessary state-wide voter ID laws. Democrats in the House have developed a new interactive voting rights app that offers state-specific data for all 50 states and six U.S. territories, and includes information on voter registration, new voting requirements and early voting.
