Statement from Congressman Kevin Yoder on President Obama's Speech in Osawatomie Kansas

"While Kansans are honored that the President is in our state, I hope that the President will spend as much time listening to Kansans today as he does speaking.  In Kansas we know that jobs don’t come from big Washington programs.  It’s the ingenuity and hard work of small business owners, entrepreneurs and Kansans across the Sunflower State that will help put America back to work.  While speeches are important, unemployed Kansans are looking for new jobs and they are looking for concrete policies from this president that will actually work.  Doubling down on trillions in deficit spending, government regulations and new taxes won’t rebuild our American economy or help small businesses thrive.  We appreciate the President being in Kansas today, but speeches don’t create jobs.”

“Much like the era in which Teddy Roosevelt delivered his famous “New Nationalism” speech in Osawatomie 100 years ago, our country is faced today in 2011 with a stark decision of what type of government we want.  Big government, high taxes and more regulations; or smaller government, less regulations and personal responsibility”
