Hensarling Statement on Final GDP Report for 2nd Quarter of 2012

September 27, 2012

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chairman and Financial Services Committee Vice Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) issued the following statement today regarding the final estimate by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter of 2012.

“Today’s report confirming that economic growth slowed to 1.3 percent last quarter is the latest evidence that President Obama’s policies have failed and are making the economy worse as we continue to suffer through the slowest recovery since the great depression. The president’s constant attacks on job creators – the very people we need to boost our economy – have come at a heavy cost. By threatening entrepreneurs and small businesspeople with higher taxes to pay for more spending, the president has helped keep more than 20 million Americans struggling to find work during the worst unemployment crisis since the Great Depression.

“Instead of dividing Americans and fostering fear for political gain, President Obama should be working with House Republicans to implement our Plan for America’s Job Creators so that all Americans can finally achieve the jobs and prosperity they deserve.”
