Congressmen to Hold Fisheries Town Hall Meeting

NEW IBERIA, LA – Working to solve issues affecting Louisiana fishermen, Congressman Jeff Landry will host a Fisheries Town Hall Meeting on Monday, August 20th at the Sliman Theater for Performing Arts in New Iberia.

Congressman Landry will be joined by Congressman John Fleming - Chairman of the U.S. House Fisheries and Wildlife Natural Resources Subcommittee - state officials, and representatives from the commercial and recreational fishing industries. The meeting is expected to focus on preserving Louisiana fishery resources, protecting Louisiana's coastline, and eliminating burdensome government regulations. It is open to the public and press.

“As the representative for South Louisiana and an avid outdoorsman, I am working hard to support our fishermen amid the challenges they are facing. Our fishing industry creates thousands of jobs, supplies 1/3 of our nation's seafood, and is key to the livelihoods of many in South Louisiana,” said Congressman Landry. "While providing an enjoyable pastime for thousands, the recreational fishing industry also provides $1.2 billion to our state annually. I encourage all of our fishermen, shrimpers, crabbers, and recreational anglers to attend Monday's town hall.”
