Today, Americans celebrate the 225th Anniversary of the signing of the Constitution – that enduring document that guarantees the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that our Founders envisioned at the birth of our nation.

It’s worth noting that the debates our founding generation had over the role of the federal government and the powers reserved to the States and to the People are as alive and well today as they were two and aquarter centuries ago.  In recent years, there has been a resurgence of the idea that, as James Madison wrote, “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite.”

This push to restore constitutionally limited government is a welcome development as we see trillion dollar deficits become the norm and debilitating regulations stifle the private sector and impede economic development.  As it has for over 200 years, the Constitution provides the solutions to get our country back on track. By limiting the federal government to the enumerated powers of Article One, Section Eight, and returning to the Ordered Liberty defined by our Constitution, we will experience greater freedom and see our country flourish.

Happy 225th Anniversary to the document responsible for creating the greatest civilization man has ever known, our U.S. Constitution.
