Climate Change
There is a strong scientific consensus that the earth is warming and that human activities are a significant contributor to that change, and I support strong steps to arrest climate change and the harm it causes.
While the U.S. should take a leading role in addressing climate change, countries such as China and India, which are polluting more and more every year, and have surpassed U.S. emissions, must be part of an international solution to address global climate change.
I have supported legislation that offers an international approach to curbing the growing threat of global warming, and I’m committed to addressing this global problem in a meaningful and comprehensive manner that also acknowledges the need to protect consumers and businesses that could be affected by the necessary steps to arrest climate change.
Adoption of an economically feasible renewable electricity standard could lead to a significant reduction in the emissions that cause climate change while creating new highly-skilled jobs for American workers in the manufacture of new renewable energy technologies in Michigan and elsewhere.
