Levin: Nine Michigan Cities to Receive Farmers Market Grants
Thursday, October 13, 2011
WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., today announced nine grants totaling more than $470,000 for Michigan farmers markets across the state. The Farmers Market Promotion Program grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to improve and expand farmers markets across the state.
“These grants will help rural and urban farmers markets across the state,” Levin said. “This is good news for farmers, who will be able to expand their outreach into the communities they serve, and it’s good news for Michiganians, who will benefit from better access to fresh food at their local farmers markets.”
