MICA AND WUELLNER MEET WITH U.S. TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY MINETA

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman John L. Mica, Chairman of the U.S. House Aviation Subcommittee, and St. Augustine/St. Johns County Airport Manager Ed Wuellner today met with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta to discuss the region’s aviation needs.
"In the near future I plan to bring officials from the Federal Aviation Administration to visit the St. Augustine Airport and help determine how we might improve aviation services in St. Johns County," Mica said.
The meeting was held at Orlando International Airport where a number of the top transportation leaders in the region were invited to participate in a Town Hall Forum with Secretary Mineta. After brief remarks from the Secretary, participants asked a variety of questions including how airports could continue to increase growth while meeting new security responsibilities. The primary topic of discussion was aviation security.
Mica also stated that he will be working closely with Mr. Wuellner, who is the current President of the Florida Airport Managers’ Association.
