Women's Conference

Senator Mark R. Warner, Virginia Tech Roanoke Center, Hollins University, the City of Roanoke, and the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau will host the 2012 Virginia Women's Conference on Saturday, October 13 at the Hotel Roanoke & Convention Center. 

The conference will explore tools for success by providing advice from experts on health, careers, personal development, business, education, finance and retirement. It will feature a welcome from Senator Warner; and special keynote speakers, Marie Wilson, founder and president of The White House Project, co-creator of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day and author of Closing the Leadership Gap: Add Women, Change Everything and Toni Blackman, Artist, U.S. Dept. of State Cultural Ambassador and one of DOVE soap's 2012 Real Women Role Models. Crowdfunding a Startup

Senator Mark R. Warner is launching a series of crowdfunding events for Virginia-based entrepreneurs. Learn about the advantages and pitfalls of raising capital from both conventional sources such as friends, venture capital firms, and angel investors, and emerging sources like crowdfunding websites. Experts in finance and entrepreneurship will also provide insight into key issues and resources intended to promote the growth of startup businesses.
