  1. I am proud to announce my nominations of Kansas students to West Point, the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy. See if a student in your town made the list and wish them well as they begin the application process. See the list here:
  2. Looking forward to going "On the Record" with Greta Van Susteren tonight on Fox News at 9:00 pm Central to discuss the terrorist attack in Benghazi and my request that the President set the record straight for the American people and for those that serve our nation in harm's way.
  3. Thank you to the 500 employees at Caterpillar in Wamego for a tour of their busy manufacturing facility. I'm standing in a Caterpillar loader bucket used to mine one of the world's primary energy sources - coal.

  4. It's good to be back in the historic Rush County Courthouse hosting a town hall meeting and listening to Kansans. It is especially valuable to visit with the American Government class from LaCrosse High School. They are an inspiring bunch and make me optimistic about America's future. Go Leopards!

  7. If you need to reach my DC staff, they are heeding the warnings to remain home during Hurricane Sandy. My four Kansas offices are open as usual for constituent services so you can always call my Topeka, Dodge City, Wichita or Overland Park offices. And I look forward to seeing folks in Ness and Rush counties tomorrow for my town hall meetings.

  9. Listen up Ness and Rush Counties: Monday I am holding town hall meetings in Ness City and LaCrosse. Please come and let me know what is on your mind! For more details on when and where go here: http://roberts.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=townhall
  10. Abilene students' protest is more evidence of bad federal regulations on the new National School Lunch and Breakfast program guidelines that leave active students hungry at the end of the day. Kudos to them for an organized and orderly protest that is sending a clear signal to Washington.
  11. Today is Kansas Food Day! Join the Kansas Department of Agriculture and celebrate Kansas farmers and ranchers. Learn what makes agriculture important to a troubled and hungry world, and to our state. Good stuff at the link to the KDA Twitter account below.
  12. Congratulations to my friend and Kansan, Judge Deanell Reece Tacha on being selected by the American Inns of Court to receive the A. Sherman Christensen Award. Thank you for your exemplary service to the federal judicial system and our state. http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2012/oct/15/former-judge-tacha-be-honored/
  13. Kudos to Fort Hays State University for holding a Farm Bill Panel Discussion as part of their "Finding Common Ground" series. Ryan Flickner, my Deputy State Director, was one of the panelists and Larry Dreiling of the High Plains Journal was the moderator. This was a great discussion of the ins and outs of a bill that benefits each and every American.
