Some Americans made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our rights. And the right to select who will lead us – especially in difficult times such as this – is something to be cherished.
America has the best justice system in the world, but it isn’t perfect. I’ve witnessed that as a lawmaker. Sometimes the guilty get off lightly – or completely. Other times, the innocent are falsely convicted.
I was humbled Thursday night, Oct. 25, when the Union Township board of trustees in Clermont County adopted a resolution thanking me for my service in Congress. They designated November 6, 2012, as “Jean Schmidt Day” in Union Township.
