Buerkle Statement on August Jobs Report

Since 1894 the first Monday in September has marked Labor Day. For many this occasion represents the end of summer, parties, parades, shopping sales, and a three-day weekend. However, Labor Day represents so much more than that.

Buerkle Announces Legislation to Combat Autoimmune Diseases

Today, Representative Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) announced she introduced legislation to increase awareness and education about autoimmune diseases. An autoimmune condition results from a person’s immune system causing his or her body to mistakenly attack its healthy cells. There are more than 100 autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis, lupus, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and celiac disease.

Buerkle: “Green-On-Blue” Attacks Extremely Concerning

Earlier today, a man in an Afghan uniform shot and killed three American troops in the Sangin district of Helmand province. According to US military command, this marks the third attack on coalition forces by Afghan counterparts in a week. On Tuesday two gunman killed a US soldier in Pakita province and on Thursday two Afghan soldiers attacked NATO troops outside a military base in eastern Afghanistan.
