NY pols slam Bam over $700M terror-cash delay

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Pete King (R-LI) yesterday demanded the Obama administration cut the red tape that is tying up more than $700 million in anti-terrorism funds to protect mass-transit systems.
King, the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, said the delay adds insult to injury after the administration slashed New York City's anti-terror funding by $53.2 million -- a 25 percent cut that was announced just two weeks after the Times Square bomb attempt.
Mayor Bloomberg yesterday accused the administration of playing a "numbers game" that ignored the enormous threat to New York City and deprived the city of its fair share of funds.
King called the cuts and delayed spending a "slap in the face" from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
"Secretary Napolitano has been on notice for nearly a year. She must take action now to get this security funding flowing to the agencies that need it," King said.
