Senator Johnson Commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior

Nearly five decades ago, Martin Luther King, Junior stood before the Lincoln Memorial and delivered one of the most influential speeches in American history. Decades later, that speech still moves millions of people around the world, who share Reverend King’s dream of a world of freedom and justice, where people are judged not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character. As we salute Doctor King and his legacy, let us commit to working to deliver on his vision of a nation of freedom and justice, and where prejudice is a distant memory.

Senator Johnson Comments on the President's Rejection of the Keystone XL Pipeline

President Obama has chosen to stop the Keystone XL pipeline. In doing so, he has turned his back on 20,000 new construction jobs, and the potential of 100,000 new jobs in the future. He is rejecting $20 billion of private sector development, and a source of energy for America that we do not have to purchase from the Middle East.

Just this week, the President’s own Council on Jobs and Competitiveness recommended expedited permitting of domestic oil pipelines. Wednesday's decision shows where his true loyalties lie: with extreme environmentalists. He is showing once again his dedication to increasing the federal government’s control and intrusion into our lives. That is risky and irresponsible – particularly in the midst of an economic crisis.
